Why cant people who support capitalism go live on their own island while the world progresses?
Why cant people who support slavery (capitalism) go live away from the rest of the world on their own island where they can exploit their labour as they want? Some people might want to be exploited. But why cant we do this? The rest of the world will become socialist & everyone will be happy and the people who support capitalism can live in misery if that’s what they desire. You see, there is a CHOICE.

That’s ridiculous. The world wouldn’t progress if it wasn’t for capitalism.

not wasting my time after you equate capitalism with slavery.
March 7th, 2010 at 6:44 am
who would pay for your welfare?
March 7th, 2010 at 7:18 am
Because the socialist cannot survive without the capitalist.

You wouldn’t have a computer to type this ridiculous question on if it wasn’t for capitalism.

Because the rich need the poor so they have someone to exploit. An island of capitalists would be an island of super-rich people, there’d be no natural “working class” for them to walk on.

Because the majority of the world has realized that Capitalism and progress co-exist in ways that Socialism can’t accomplish?
March 7th, 2010 at 9:59 am
They can.
What will the rest of the world do when all the jobs move to that island?

I’m afraid it’s impossible to reason with them.
In the end, humanity will have to get rid of such people.

I would have to say that it is the socialist which should do that. You see socialism FORCEs people to participate. Capitalism allows you to opt out at any time.

You’ve got a deal.
We’ll go live on an island and enjoy the fruits of capitalism and freedom.
And when YOUR world is collapsing from the socialist nightmare you’ve wrought, don’t come calling.

You obviously don’t even understand what capitalism is.
First of all, in a true free market, free society, you have the freedom to purchase your own property, along with others, organize and get together, and live on your own little “socialist commune” while leaving everyone else alone.
Capitalists are all about private property and individual liberty……which means you have a right to NOT support big business, and to live amongst your own on your own property as long as you don’t violate my property and my rights.
The free market IS progress. You can live in a socialist utopia in a capitalist society……but under state socialism, I am not free.

I do live on an “Island”. It’s called the North American Continent.

Socialism has spread throughout Europe, is slowly being introduced to some Asian nations, and Canada is relatively socialist as well. Africa doesn’t count because they’re run by militia groups. The US will either
A) have to become socialist to fit in with the rest of the world as we progress and choose the right path, globally or,
B) Go into isolation like North Korea.
@MIKE L: hahaha you make me laugh. Cuba has some of the best healthcare around. I personally experienced this while vacationing in Cuba with my family in 2003 and my dad received wonderful healthcare when he had an accident sailing. The US healthcare system is too expensive to be sustainable.

Capitalism is freedom to make your own destiny. Why would I want to live in a socialist economy where I may not be able to choose my profession and all products are similar or the same.
March 7th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
You are right. There can not be any losers in the world, because everyone deserves to be a winner. I wont keep working to get into grad school so that I can make more money, because darn it, the government should just give me more money! It is only fair! Why can’t people just understand that?
March 7th, 2010 at 3:23 pm
Why don’t the liberals and socialist go to the happy place called Cuba.
You can stand in line for everything . And terrible medical care.
March 7th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Great. The world can be happy like everyone in North Korea and Cuba. No thanks.
March 7th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Tell you what. We’ll stay here and you socialists can all go live together where everyone is equally miserable. Socialism has never worked anywhere because it always ends up becoming communism. And what has communism given us according to history?……millions of dead people. Mao, Stalin…those two ring a bell?

Capitalism is deception about ownership of companies. There are all new companies, stores, restaurants, and banks every 4 years and an average employment duration of 1 year within false economics capitalism, (that is possibly a secret homelessness without health insurance death camp). Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism.
Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds).
Actual economics is the persons that are paying the business loans of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for. The employees of companies are also paying the expenses of companies beyond the salary of the employees.
Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies.
